Gave the XKR what's become an annual deep cleaning and detail to prepare for 'euro fest' this weekend, the only worthwhile European focused car show the area. Did the same on the Blue MGB as well, only neglected to get a photo since I lost daylight. Weather looks great (30C, no rain) so I am looking forward to a good show this year.

A while ago I scored some OEM crossbars on FB marketplace, I finally got around to installing them. The internet says they are quiet and don't impact fuel economy, we will see tomorrow when I finally get it out on the highway. I think it adds to the looks.

Yesterday was Golf appreciation say. I took care of 9 years of rail dust. I really should have got to it earlier, but just didn't make the time. I used the Sonax Fallout Cleaner. It worked great. At first I thought I liked the smell, but I was sick of it by the time I was done.

Side Note: the Golf STILL isn't fixed. The dealership would not repair it under warranty since it was damaged by the previous shop. I get it, but I was annoyed because the advisor said they would. The shop has ordered the sensors and they were supposed to be in last week. Hopefully it'll get done this week, I'm very much over this.

Wow nice! I've used Iron X in the past which seems to be almost the exact same product. Did you have to use a clay bar too or did everything come off with just the product?

Had a blast at EuroFest, as usual, even the family had a good time. Jag took 1st place in 1975+ Jaguars....Then when it was time to leave, suffered a dead battery. Took two booster packs hooked up to it in order to get it to crank, and then it threw every dash warning possible. Mrs.Firm limped it home and I put a new battery in it, which has all systems happy again.

The vast majority came off in one pass, for the really bad areas a quick second wipe with a little elbow grease was needed. I didn't use a clay bar.

@ Tortoise - good thing about the Passport roof rails is they can be slid back & forth, I moved my front ones back a bit to get rid of the noise, they're not super loud, but not as quiet as without.

@ Firm - congrats on the 1st place finish on the Jag!! And it doing Jag things & having a dead battery when it was time to leave  ;)

I currently have them in the recommended position, which I think will be too far back for our roof box. I didn't notice any additional noise. So, when the roof box comes off I will just move them back like you said.

So, I took the old battery from the XKR and charged it up, it charged up nicely, and tested it on my old MotoMaster tester, and it tested well, so I saved it. Didn't think I'd need it, but....

This showed up on marketplace, needing a battery (among other things), so I grabbed the old XKR battery and went over there. Typical widow situation, tossed her some cash and the battery in it and it fired up and ran great after sitting for about a year. Bunch of other random warning lights and such, but nothing overly concerning. I pick it up this weekend, bad timing though as there's a lot going on the next few weekends, so it's going to sit a little longer.

Junior's  '12 Civic developed a vibration under light throttle while taking right hand turns, as well as a transmission oil leak.  We narrowed the vibration down to the left side CV axle (original at almost 300k) and the transmission oil leak to the axle seal on the right side.  Picked up an aftermarket CV and seals from Honda for both sides and swapped them out two nights ago.  Took about 2 hrs, and Junior did all the hard work under the car.  The vibration was gone, but now both axle seals were leaking terribly.  I knew Junior had pushed the seals in a bit too far (supposed to be flush with transaxle case and he was about 1/8" past) and that allowed the moving parts in the tranny to chew up the seals internally.

Picked up two more seals yesterday and was more careful in their placement this go around and all seems well.  We could  swap both axles on this car in under an hour now, haha.
