I feel like Subaru has been slowly moving the Outback away from "tall wagon" to CUV/SUV over the previous two generations and this was a rather larger step in that direction.  I think the people who dislike wagons (like my wife) will find this more appealing.  Will that result in more or less sales, I guess time will tell.

I'm pretty sure my wife will like it too, it being very square with big windows.

I dunno, at least the previous one still had some of its wagon roots... Though, I agree the Wilderness editions were ugly.

You're right about that aspect.  Now its just a Forester.

The wagon bod lives with the Trailseeker - it's a Toyota EV rebadge, but it would have made a perfect Outback as far as the styling goes!

Yeah my wife likes boxy also, not sure how she would feel about this Outback, might still be a little too "wagon" for her.

An old lady in an super-clean early 2000s Buick Lesabre, total blast from the past.

As a kid I always used to see old people driving large American sedans, but those days seem to be done now. There were quite a few older people in my neighbourhood growing up and the most popular one was the Buick Century, those things were everywhere.

I'm not even sure what the classic old person car is nowadays...

It's all compact SUVs now....I see a lot of old people in the Cadillac XT5, and whatever the Buick ones are. CRV & RAV4 too.

I agree with you on the Centuries though, my grandparents on both sides, who lived hundreds of kms apart and had no real relationship, had Centuries for the last 2 decades of their lives.

1st gen Buick Encore was big with older folks, but yeah mostly vaery varied CUVs these days    When I see a rare Lexus ES, there's always grey hair at the wheel.
