I feel like Subaru has been slowly moving the Outback away from "tall wagon" to CUV/SUV over the previous two generations and this was a rather larger step in that direction.  I think the people who dislike wagons (like my wife) will find this more appealing.  Will that result in more or less sales, I guess time will tell.
Past vehicles, 2016 VW Golf R, 2020 VW GLI, 2022 Honda Civic Si

I'm pretty sure my wife will like it too, it being very square with big windows.

You're right about that aspect.  Now its just a Forester.

The wagon bod lives with the Trailseeker - it's a Toyota EV rebadge, but it would have made a perfect Outback as far as the styling goes!

That's hardly a wagon.

Yeah my wife likes boxy also, not sure how she would feel about this Outback, might still be a little too "wagon" for her.

Scaerio

On Saturday afternoon I spotted a Nissan Pao while running errands.

Couple of clean cars in the salty muck yesterday: an Ineos Grenadier, and a minty E30 3-Series (poor thing).

Surprised too at the amount of electric Focuses still buzzing around. A compliance car with a battery taking up the trunk, it was fun to drive in its time.

I completely forgot that existed.
