This seems like a no brainer. Anybody here using?

While I currently use Level 1 for the Prius, no reason I can't charge level 2. Also, the possibility exists of bigger PHEV or full EV as a Prius replacement.

I think I'd likely get the Classic Connect 40a charger.

That program did not exist when I bought my 2nd EVSE in 2023. I was tempted by the Canuck connection, but in the end went with a very compact Wallbox, which had to be replaced under warranty a few years in. The Grizzl-e is cheap, but very boxy, and reviews went from "great" to "absolute junk". No clear line at the time.

In retrospec, I should have gotten another ChargePoint. My 2017 unit, installed outdoors, is still going strong. It needed a remote factory reboot once, and that's it.

But that club thing - I don't get it. Where are they making money with this? Ontario thing maybe?

I believe companies are paying them as carbon credits. So in effect, companies that need to meet their carbon goals are essentially paying for EV use.

So probably not a thing in QC, where we have our own carbon taxing system (of course...)

So, this will only be a thing as long as carbon pricing exists?

If the Conservatives ever get in and completely axes carbon pricing / incentives, I imagine a business case for this program will no longer exist and it will just disappear?

I got the Grizzl-E mostly because the Mini Connect is capable of pulling 24A at 120V, useful for campgrounds.

My earnings as of yesterday.

I requested my first $10 Grizzl-E payment and got it within seconds. A nice little rebate for my utility bill payment.

Also, they introduced this level system:

I think we'll reach Ultimate in around 7 years, but Grizzl-E does reserve the right to modify the program at any time (like the others).

My girlfriend has a Pion Power mobile charger at her place, which we go to on weekends. Thanks to you sharing this link, I signed up this past weekend and I have to admit that it was a pain. You have to tether the charger to the wi-fi in order to get credits for your consumption, but her charger is outside probably ~20 feet from the house and in the cold, so the connection isn't great and I had some trouble connecting it. Then, when we're not there we unplug the charger and put it away in the shed, so it remains to be seen whether the tether will hold or I'll have to reconnect it each time.

If it works, it would be a great bonus since it will probably be used for a full charge on weekends we're there, which at $0.10/kWh would be around $6, which is way more than the cost of the electricity.

You can tether via Hot Spot instead of WiFi so you can still gain points when not at home or near a WiFi connection.

Not familiar with their program, but seeing an ad for it on my fb feed, I went to the comments and a lot of people seem pissed about a $300 deposit not coming back? The company itself responded that they will be issuing refunds once it's financially feasible for them. Really reassuring...

The program was only introduced last July and required 4,000-7,000 kWh of charging to get the deposit back. I expect it to take us about 14,000 km to get our deposit back. I did also have a 50% off discount code so I only paid $150 deposit. Would still like it back.

Whoever runs their Facebook account seems a tiny little unhinged. They should hire a social media PR person, or if that's not in the books yet, at least ask ChatGPT to come up with canned responses. Attacking the competitors or being defensive doesn't come off as professional.
