Well the new Toyota RAV4 dropped yesterday.  https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a64704544/2026-toyota-rav4-revealed/

Looks like they will all be hybrids of some sort.  The US get a FWD model but I think Canada will only offer AWD options.

I showed my wife pictures as she loved the current generation Rav and we owned a Hybrid version for a couple of years.  She thinks it looks good and she sees a lot of similarities to the old one....

I think she needs to get her eyes checked as it's significantly restyled.  I actually think it looks a lot more generic now and I don't really see the appeal.  I would pick a current generation over the new one.

Neither the old one nor the new one is all that attractive IMO. If I wanted a hybrid in this class I'd be looking at the Mazda.

100% the move is to get a Mazda CX-50 Hybrid, blows the two Toyotas completely out of the water.

I kinda like it.  I see traces of the current model, but it looks sharpened.  I prefer this look to the general jelly-bean trend with CUVs.

That said, the CX-50 is still better looking.

Would this gen of Rav4 have a better hybrid system than the Mazda?

From what I have read, it's basically the same just with slightly different tuning.  I don't think the difference is worth talking about and if anything I would go with the more "older" tech that is proven.
