Honestly, I'd just rent skis while you are there.  SL skis will be no fun if you get any snow. And even without new snow, something a little wider and chiller will be more fun and less demanding.

I think the "relax on a beach" type of vacation is something I'm only interested in doing with a group of friends. If it's just my wife and I then we're going exploring - not physical activities but seeing cities and towns and road tripping between them. There's way too much of the world that I want to see.

I totally understand this feeling.  Yes it's always more enjoyable to be relaxing and sharing that time with friends and family, but trying to heard cats on a busy trip can be a major pain in the butt and likely more enjoyable as a pair or small group.

Was thinking about you and your Mexico trip plans when hearing about all the stuff going on down in Mexico right now, I know a few people who chose to cancel their trips to Mexico this spring because of it (mostly people who were planning on going with their children).

I got my hair cut today and my barber had just come back from Puerto Vallarta a day or two before that all started. We go to Yucatan which is the safest Mexican province and last I checked there are no issues there.

Oh I'll definitely be renting skis, I plan on bringing just my boot bag with my clothes, helmet, etc... But just because I rent the right skis, doesn't mean I'll have any clue what to do with them  ;D

Yeah I think it's probably the safest also.  Almost surely nothing to be overly concerned about, but I would understand if someone with younger children might choose to pass on the trip.

Two more epic days. Had lunch mid-mountain yesterday, raclette & 4 bottles of wine. Afternoon skiing was a bit sketchy & even lost my phone somehow. Luckily someone found it & brought it to guest services 😀

I presume the upside down photo was take post wine and raclette?

You guys sure nailed the weather. Looking forward to hearing your impressions of Panorama.

Heading to Toronto August 12-16 for a couple ball games (Red Sox and Yankees) with another couple.  Flights are booked and ball tickets purchased.  Haven't booked accommodations yet.  Flights from S'toon are ridiculous for that time of year.  Could have flown to Europe for cheaper.  Ah well, I've never been to TO or a MLB game, so really looking forward to this.

A band we really like called The Dead South are playing in Calgary on July 9th, so we decided to go visit family for that week and tie in going to that show.  Anyway, turns out that week is the Calgary Stampede, so I guess that means we're going to the Stampede.  I've never been, although my wife has been many times as a kid when she lived in Calgary. Our 13 year old daughter will be coming with us, too.  We'll make sure to go to one rodeo and spend the day at Stampede Park.  I'm hoping for Wednesday, as DeadMau5 is playing that night.

We'll be driving - probably the Prius, as it will cost us $100 each way.

Our planned Croatia trip this coming September morphed into a southern France trip. We'll be doing a week in Province (staying 3 nights in Aix-en-Provence, 3 nights in Goult, and 1 night in Moustiers-Sainte Marie), followed by a week in the French Riviera (staying in Beaulieu-sur-Mer). The first week we'll have a rental car and the second week we'll use public transit since the entire corridor from Nice to the Italian border is super well-connected by train, a pass is 50 Euros for the whole week. As a rental car I booked a Volkswagen Polo, Peugeot 208, or equivalent - something small because French gas prices ($$$) and small European roads. The rental price was surprisingly cheap, $440 CAD all-in for 8 days. Much cheaper than Portugal in 2023, which cost around $350 CAD for 4 days despite me checking many times after booking to see if the price went down.
