What Car Did You See Today?

In my neck of the woods, the Tonale PHEV is pretty popular, I see them often. The Hornet on the other hand is a complete unicorn, for every 10 Tonales I see, I see maybe 1 Hornet.

I looked online and you can get a brand-new Tonale PHEV for around $50K, and a lightly-used model in the $30-40K range. Way cheaper than any RAV4 PHEV you can find, and on par with regular gas crossovers. So I see the appeal... uses less gas, and "more premium" than everything else in the same price range. I wouldn't touch one with a 10 foot pole if I was looking to buy for the long run, but if I wanted to lease or buy and dump after 3-5 years, why not?

A month ago when I was changing the tires on the Mazda, I saw a weird use of the Tonale PHEV.  It was being used by a door-dasher, a middle-aged white guy, delivering food to one of my neighbours.

It just struck me as a little weird, as most Dashers are in Corolla's or Civics, or the odd Rav4 hybrid.  Also, at the risk of stereotyping, most 'dashers' are not middle-aged white guys, at least around these parts.

I think if one were to lease, it would be an intriguing vehicle to own for a few years.

Sweet!

This gen, and the one I saw was in a single tan colour (lots of two-tones were sold here).

Revelations

Wow! Quite a spot, not many from that generation still around.

Another pretty rare one, but not nearly as cool as that Cressida: a 3rd gen Nissan Quest. These fixed seats, narrow body oddities sold poorly and aged like raw chicken in a driveway. The one I saw was beige (of course), with a cracked rear bumper cap and temp plates. CVT not busted...yet.

Also saw a 2-door Defender on Monday, first one since my press car of a few years ago.

Fiat 124 Abarth in the parking lot at work.  Sadly, an auto.  I don't recall seeing one before.

This is actually from a week or two ago, but a GT3RS.  Stuck in traffic like the rest of us.  I have no idea what year or generation it is - I'm not a Porsche guy.

You cannot view this attachment.

Also, the white RX-8 ahead of it.  Don't see too many of those anymore.  It was in pretty rough shape.

Revelations

My son was in Kamloops today and and was behind a Dodge Attitude, said it was a pretty cool looking car. He never snapped a pic because he just assumed it was a new model that he just hasn't seen yet. Seems its a Mexican market car, not sure what it was doing here, but I have seen camo'd manufacturer test mules doing testing out that way before. Bet this would be the new Dart if they would've kept making them. If you look up the previous versions of this model you'll see what a huge improvement this one is!

It is for a Dodge. And the specs aren't too bad either for a modern compact. What caught my boys eye was he thought it was a Lancer EVO coming up behind him (he's a fan of those). Wish I spotted it tbh.
