That green does look fantastic!! Good work on the wires as well, pain in the ass getting your hands in there.

And for your drives back and forth from Memphis, that's some serious mileage & days!! I did Etobicoke to Nashville in one shot back in 2007, we were roughly 12hrs door to door.

^Nice work.

I replaced the driver's side front hub/bearing assembly on my Dad's '09 Titan on Saturday.  A big effin hammer and chisel was needed to separate the assembly from the spindle.  The old bearing had a scary amount of play in it.  The trucks body is rust free, but the underside is another story.  My dad picked this unit up a year ago after rolling his '05 Titan.  The '05's body was rusting terribly but the underside was much cleaner than this one.  Go figure.

The tie rod has a bit of play and should be replaced.  Shocks are pretty much done.  I'm guessing ball joints would need replacing also but I didn't do any prying on those.  I was out of time and energy.  Additionally, Dad is 80 and puts minimal kms on this.  So I dunno, I'll have to chat with him and figure out how far he wants to go with it. One caliper pin was seized also so cleaned that up.  All the brakes should be looked at.  Could sink a lot of time/money into this thing I'm guessing if we went through all brakes/suspension/steering.

12 Hours is a pretty solid time. I've done 13.5 Mississauga to Memphis, but that's myself alone and only stopping when the car needed gas. The family, mostly Mrs.Firm, can only go a couple hours without needed a pee break.

Curious why you went with the expense of renting a minivan when you could have just taken the Escalade?

Tortoise

A back of the napkin calculation figures suggest you'd save about $300 in fuel costs by taking the rental van.

GreatBigAbyss

Yeah, but wouldn't that be offset by the rental and mileage charge?

I rent vehicles frequently when travelling for work, all through National, so I collect a bunch of reward points with them. I rented it for 4 days, had two free days (via rewards) and paid $70/day for the other two days...so $140. I put 2,100 miles on it, kids snacked in it, drove it on wet salty roads, etc. For $140 to avoid putting my own vehicle through that mess is well worth it. It's also kinda nice to just give zero-F's about the vehicle while travelling...

Now, we're taking our regular trip to Pensacola/Destin in June, it's about half the distance (7 hours or so) I'll be driving the Escalade and wouldn't even consider renting. Nice roads, less of a time crunch so can make food stops, and once I am there I like cruising around the beach in a vehicle that I love. Last time I spray waxed it in the hotel garage  ;D
