Another shot of the bike with all the luggage on it.

I thought I was being adventurous, but then I caught up to a fellow on a 1200GS who'd ridden up from Argentina. He rode up the West Coast, was crossing Canada on the TCH, then was going to head south on I95, before heading West and back to Argentina.

Dude looked to be as old as I am, but given that trip, he might have been thirty.  ;D

Sort of on the eclectic side, I suppose.

Hey Johnny. Glad to be here.

Oh, I wanted to try something different, mainly. I had my doubts, and didn't really need anything that large, but only a couple blocks into the test drive I was fairly sold. So quiet, quick and comfortable. I didn't expect it at all.

The Duke was a lot of fun for tossing around, but out on the Prairies it wasn't in its element.

I've done a lot of riding around on the V85 between Regina and Winnipeg, and up into the Interlake. The 23L tank, cruise control, decent wind protection and supportive seat made it a lot nicer without feeling beat up afterwards.

The Lightning can get down around 22kWh/100km in the Summer/Fall, but I've seen as much as 40kWh/100km with a strong headwind and in the -20s.

Hey welcome back fine sir and welcome to NB.  Wish it was under better circumstances but good to have a fellow car nut close by.

May I ask why you desired an EV, just because of curiosity or was there another motivator?

So the switch from a naked sport bike in the Duke to an adventure bike seems like another pretty big change, were you craving some rides off the beaten path?

I like that system, because it gives an apples to apples comparison of how much it costs to operate an EV compared to an ICE car.

That's how I do it. I know manufacturers will spit out oh BZ4X gets 1.8 Le/100km (not eL/100km sorry) or F-150 Lightning 3.5 Le/100km, and that's based on a litre of gas containing some amount of kWh energy equivalent, but in reality the number will change depending on local gas prices, price per kWh, and of course environmental factors, so I calculate my own Le/100km number.

Very little salt and grit is used in BC, they spray brine on highways prior to major snow events but that's about it. A 20 year old car in the Okanagan is likely the equivalent of a 30 year old car in Vancouver, 10 year old car in Alberta, and 5 year old car in Ontario/Quebec.

I agree, drive and enjoy it. The lower elevation areas of the Okanagan has barely had any snow this year. Touchless car wash subscriptions $60 a month are amazing this time of year.
