Title: 2026 Hyundai Palisade Ultimate Calligraphy Hybrid
Post by: Blueprint on Jan 29, 2026, 08:19 AM
The name's a mouthfull, but this rig is impressive. Not a rattle in sight, smooth as butter, heated seats even in the 3rd row. $5k more than what I paid for the CX-90 in 2023. But how will it age?

I like the looks the new version. But I have no faith in the long term ownership experience of a Kia/Hyundai.

^^ Agreed.  Although this would probably be a great 'lease it for 3-4 years' vehicle.

This is a big boy. I can't see on the roof. The supplied dollar store snow brush supplied by the fleet manager is ridiculous for this use. I understand that they loose tons of them, but I shoulda grabbed mine from the Crosstrek.

All seats are powered. You can read the news while the 2nd row captain' folds and moves out of the way to access the 3rd row - 100% of kids will just walk between the 2nd row buckets. The power feature is handy to have from the trunk though, you can fold and raise everything without throwing your back.

From the driver's perch you look down at Model Y's (height people, height). It feels larger than it is, and rides on a cloud like a Tahoe. Hard to brake smoothly on ice as there's zero feel - this brings back the yank tank experience, but without the floating. Gave a ride to the neighbour, who glanced at the interior and went "Woah - fancy!"

I always thought the 1st gen Pallisade was meh, an also ran, but Hyundai nailed the 2nd gen. Especially in XRT trim.

It was fairly consistently rated as the best mainstream three row crossover.

Maybe, but neither the exterior nor interior did it for me, it was just overstyled. The Telluride was way nicer in and out.

The Pallisade might still be a little busy on the outside, but there's more intent in the design. They nailed it with the interior though. Telluride arguably still wins on the outside, but not quite the inside, and then the Kia dealership experience which is what turned us off from the EV9...

Not a fan of the exterior at all. I don't think it will age well (common to Hyundai/Kia designs) The interior is very nice though.

Palisade handed back. This was a super comfy cruiser for winter commuting, and despite its size it was fairly easy to steer through the snowed-in mazes that our streets have become. The drivetrain though was not happy with the cold temps, as it needed a solid 30-40 minutes of driving below -14°C to disengage ICE in traffic. End result is a 13.7 l/100 km average for the week - don't think the V6 would have been much worse. At one point I was near the 15 mark, but a long cross-town errand warmed it up enough to shut the ICE a bit and lower the weekly avg. Day 1 - always the best reading - was in the 8's under milder temps.

13.7 on a hybrid yeesh. Makes my 42 kWh/100km when it was -30 out seem not as bad.  ;D

I hear Hyundai has a 3-row EREV coming next year, same with Toyota (3 row EV and/or EREV) with an announcement coming next week.
