Title: 2011 BMW 335i Opinions
Post by: Johnnymac on Dec 12, 2024, 10:41 AM
Local listing on Facebook marketplace, basically a loaded RWD 335i manual from 2011 with extremely low kms.  https://www.facebook.com/share/14sACNKmsc/?mibextid=79PoIi

I'm assuming it's this cheap because how unreliable these were and the age?  Could this be the type of vehicle that would be a good "starter sports car"?

Wow, clean car. It's not exactly cheap, reasonable but only for enthusiasts so limited market.

$17k for a low km manual RWD 300hp coupe seems fairly cheap to me, this would have been what a $60k+ vehicle back in the day.

Should I be worried about the N55 engine?  This was the first model year for it.

What could go wrong?

I had a 2012 335i with the N55 that I drove until 2023 with no major issues.   Brother owned it first, then I purchased off him around 2017 or so.  Now that was the F30 3 series...but same engine.

Either way, hard to consider the "$60+K back in the day" factor for a 14-year old car.   It's cheap for a reason.   Could be a great buy, but need to have the mindset that a $5-10K service is possible in the first 24 months of ownership.

Great buy for someone looking for fun and style on a budget.   If it grenades...well, that's gambling.

[Also - hello!  ;D ]

Yeah the more I think about it the less I feel like it would be a car I reach for keys over my Integra.

Plus the owner informed me that he is taking the listing down because he started it yesterday and it had a engine light on, he wants to take it to the dealer in the spring to have it looked over and make sure there aren't any issues.
