Miata normally gets stored in MIL's garage for the winter, freeing up a bay in my garage.

Wife and MIL are having a tiff...Miata is stuck in my garage, looks like for the winter now. :'(

Put some winters on it & enjoy it from time to time then  ;D

I second that!

I remember this past spring it was a similar issue, wife and MIL not getting along and it being awkward.

I agree with the others, might as well through some winter rubber on her and take her out on nice days in the winter and avoid the drama as best you can.

Yup, it's real fun.
I'd not enjoy driving the Miata, I'd constantly be thinking of the salt and grime.
No rust on her yet, want to keep it that way.

Yeah my MIL is a piece too, and the TR6 is stored at her condo. But... She lost her driver's licence after being flagged by medical staff in the system, so now, at least, even though she brings up that "favour" e-ve-ry-ti-me she cans, despite wife and I becoming virtual slaves for everything she needs done, I can sleep knowing she won't bump into the Triumph.

She called for my wife's birthday, started another argument.  Now she's trying to bribe her with baked goods.
Miata is still in my garage.
I'm so tired of it...

I know it's her mom.

But why do people put up with abusive/dysfunctional relationships?

My wife is trying to deal with it, she realized her mother is a narcissist and there's not much you can do about it.    She still hasn't called her back.
It's all messed up with promises made to a dead father and well...empathy.  She's in her 80's and alone, can't actually abandon her.

That's true.

But that doesn't mean you have to indulge their bullshit.

100%. I have zero time or interest for family drama.
