...in the US for 2027. No news yet on Canadian market.

Of course, a 2-row option is added to the CX-90. Weird move after going through all the trouble of creating a separate name for the 5-seater versions. Probably savings to be made with certification etc. as Mazda is hit hard by tarriffs.

Or perhaps it just isn't selling all that well.  Turns out, having the option of a 3rd row trumps not having a 3rd row?  It's not like the deletion of the 3rd row gets you any extra storage space.

Article I read said that the Mazda 3 outsold the CX-70 in the US, not a lot of uptake for the 2 row version. They really didn't distinguish it enough from the 90 to get the attention, but I get it, small company with not a lot of cash, so quick & easy to do what they did. Could have just started it as a 2 row CX-90.

Guess I might have a rare SUV sitting on my driveway now  ;D

It'll be a collectible!

I wonder how much comes down to people seeing "70" and expecting it to be cheaper than "90"? I also wonder if it sold in similar relative numbers to the Passport vs Pilot. With the CX-90 having much lower sales compared to the Pilot, it would make sense the CX-70 isn't a big seller.

The separate CX-70 identity never made sense.  They should have just had a CX-90 with 3rd row delete.

There's an uptick in sedan sales as purchasing power of Americans is falling thanks to the Orange King. In my area, I'm surprised at the number of CX-70's I see.

In Canada, the CX-70 outsells the Passport by 15%, but in Quebec that number shoots to 140% !! The CX-90 is doing even better against the Pilot - guess we don't like gas guzzlers (2025 numbers).

Wow! The US numbers are vastly different. I guess it makes sense given our more expensive gas and Quebec's adoption of PHEVs.

Considering how little Mazda did to truly separate the 70 to the 90 (basically just taking a row of seats out) I'm not overly shocked that the 70 isn't selling well.  Having it get absorbed in the 90 lineup as just a two row version makes the most sense if they feel they should still sell the 70 at all.

I honestly couldn't tell you the difference between the two just from looking at it, but I seem to be able to do that with the Pilot/Passport for example.

The only visual differentiator was the black as opposed to chrome window and grille trim.

Mazda Canada has not confirmed their move yet. Cross-border trims (whole range, not just CX-70/90) never had the same name, and content varies a lot. So I would not be surprised if they decide to keep the CX-70 name up here.

CX-50 is still dead to us of course, and many models from other brands have quietly been removed too (Telluride, gas Sorento, Crosstrek & Forester Wilderness, and until recently Frontier/Murano/Pathfinder were not available here).
