Gotta say I'm really impressed with one thing so far: fuel economy. At the end of Day 1, with traffic mayhem and leaving it on for the photoshoot, it sat at 5.5 l/100 km.

What's on the back of my mind, of course, is that this is 1) a brand new model, 2) from Stellantis, 3) with a complex hybrid-electric system that is 4) added to a European turbo four. What could go wrong?

And speaking of that, my loan of the top-trim Grand Wagoneer did not happen (hence the gap in my reports here) because the previous journo broke down with it in Quebec city (it ran fine until it wouldn't start). It took a dealer the whole week to run diagnostics and eventually replace both batteries.

I think these look pretty good. And 5.5 L/100 km is really impressive.

How is the cargo space? By the numbers it seems pretty small for something that is supposed to be utilitarian.

MSRP $52k+ is pretty nuts, but I think I need to stop beating that dead horse. It could be a decent used by in a few years.

Christ thats ugly, and thats saying a lot as the newer Cherokees were uglier than sin, they outdid themselves with this one.

The ICE stays silent a lot in traffic, but sometimes there are odd buzzes and shakes as it motors back on in generator mode. The wireless charger has a cooling fan hidden somewhere, and it's making an annoying noise, as if a little plastic bit is rubbing on it. And for a few minutes on my last drive, the screen wasn't responding. So Stellantis do what Stellantis does.

Oddly, most journos LOVE uConnect, but I've never liked its interface, and often had response issues. They all dump on Subaru's systems, but there I have no complaints - go figure.

Km's going up, fuel economy at 5.7 after a few highway bits - this Euro drivetrain is seriously frugal, and has great legs on the highway - you hit the 130's without feeling or trying. About time Stellantis takes advantage of its French Connection!

I don't mind the looks, it sort of reminds me of the Range Rover Evoque. And I actually really like the interior, looks high-end. That being said, I wouldn't touch this with a 10 foot pole. If I'm going to get something with highly questionable reliability, it'll be on something older and interesting, not a daily driver that people are relying on to go from A to B.

Some people will still buy it though.  There's one in the parking lot at work.  Pretty sure it's one of our shop guys.
