Oh they are.

The real question is whether my knee and back hold up!
I feel the same way with regards to how long my body can handle being squeezed into the Miata.  I have been working a bit on my hip and back flexibility lately as we office workers have this issue from sitting so much.  Fingers crossed it's good enough for your intended purposes, I don't really figure this would be the long distance road trip vehicle you'd pick from your stable, you have an LS for that.

LS is gone

I guess I missed when that happened.

Very nice Ron!!  Congrats!

May be another roadster in my future as well.

Nice man!! Would never have thought that color combination would work on a boxster, but it looks fan-feckin-tastic.

IQ and I went on our little adventure to bring our "new" car home this week.

First: A big thanks to Hannibal for being the first to put eyes on the car for me. I found out the seller was a big BMW Stan (he sold his M3 when he bought the Porsche and still has a diesel wagon). So Hannibal had a great set of cards: show up in a Porsche OR a BMW!  He picked the BMW! So he gave the car the "once over", drove it, snapped some pics for me and gave me a good "lay of the land" as far as the car was concerned. So that was super helpful. Thanks, Hannibal! I owe you one!

Next, it is so, so, so, so much better buying a car from a fellow enthusiast. And the seller was that. So it's nice to have someone speaking the same language and understanding the concerns (both practical and logistical). And beyond that, he was just a very good guy. He even "gifted" us an oil change and a tranny fluid change (with Amsoil!) on his dime to say congrats on buying his car. Classy. It has been a long, long time since a car purchase has been a pleasant thing for me. This also gives a great amount of confidence about the car being as advertised with no surprises.

We opted to take the train, which we both enjoy. The seller, being on the ball, waived us from coming up to his place as he knew there was an MTO office right across the street from one of VIA stations on the way. So we disembarked there. The Lyft ride from our home was fairly terrifying and stressful since the driver was doing 40km/h over several times. I told him to knock it off since a stop by the police would cause us to likely miss our train. He still drove like an asshole and half of me wished he'd get pinched since it would be an immediate license loss due to "street racing".

Once at the MTO, we could see the car from a distance as the curb presence is HUGE. We then went through the car together, pointing out every detail, imperfection. No stories, nothing hidden. He threw in a bunch of extras (quality car cover, sun shades, leftover oil, tranny fluid, several oil filters, etc etc). He handed over the binder and we went into the MTO and did the switch over. It was our car now.

The 14 way seats are infinitely adjustable and it took me a bit to find my perfect seating position. I also noticed due to my healthy plumpness the bolsters really grab me! Fat bastard should endeavor to lose a few pounds I think...

Weather was "meh" so the top stayed up. It's pretty quiet for a convertible but there's still some wind noise at speed but not oppressively so...we didn't turn the radio on for the entire journey. We just listened to each other and the car.

I struggled somewhat with the shifting gate initially..I got more than a couple 1 to 4 shifts from the narrow "H". Shifter seems a teeny bit better than my 09 Boxster. We most noticed how compliant the ride is on 20" on 35 series sport rubber. Shockingly good.

The smaller 2.7 engine changes the car significantly from the 3.4 in my 09 or the "S" model. It's a revver, not a torquer with only 205 lb/ft. And even then the peak torque is well beyond 4,000rpm. The car happily spins to 8,000rpm. In many ways, this feels like a German Honda S2000. It's a momentum car and you won't be torqing it out of corners like the bigger engine. Indeed, there are a number of people who think the smaller engine is more "fun" without getting into ridiculous speeds like the bigger engine. The engine also burbles, spits and pops on deceleration..something my 09 never did. The exhaust is too quiet which I'll have to remedy. He had headers on it, which I had him remove as part of the condition of sale. Wouldn't pass a safety (no cats), too loud, exhaust fumes, etc. I'll have to remedy this with a Fister exhaust.

The handling limits are enormous. The steering is extremely quick, so much so I turned in a bit early a couple of times...and the car feels like a go kart. You will never find the limits of this car's handling on the street.

Fuel economy was in the mid-high 7s @ 115km/h for the duration of our trip.

Re-fuelling or any stop had people coming up to the car and asking about it. The color is just so "loud". You can't not notice it. It has the factory "model delete" option, so it doesn't say Boxster on it. I had a woman in a Prius offer to trade be for her car. I told her I recently owned a Prius and it was among the favorite cars I ever owned. She seemed shocked and pleased! I think the only other car that I've owned that got this much attention was my Supra, so I'm not sure if I like this part. As I've aged, the less and less I like talking or interacting with Joe Public. They distract me from yelling at the sky! LOL 😆

Overall it was a great car and a great mini adventure. I'm excited to see if I can get the paint to pop even more with a good paint polish and get a better sound.

Questions?

What's really, really hard to see if just how Brown the contrasting leather is. It's called Agate Gray and it's VERY brown...almost as dark as Espresso. Porsche owners complain at how difficult it is to photograph to see how Brown it truly is. I agree.

If you zoom in to the photo with the steering wheel, you can see how Brown it is. Otherwise, this thread probably has the best photographs for showing how Brown it is. https://www.718forum.com/threads/gray-interior-with-silver-exterior.27419/

I suspect this is why the car was optioned with a rare brown top...to match the top of the door card leather when the top is down.

Where did you go to pick up the car?  Like, how far of a drive home did you have?

Good train ride?  I have to say, Mrs GBA and I really, really enjoyed our long drive home when picking up the Prius.  It was time well spent together, and we saw a bunch of sights we don't normally see.

I think it's a great way to pick up a car.  Would rather do that than ship it.

Sounds like a great car for you to play with for the warm months. Impressive fuel economy considering it is a 6 cylinder.

Did you find the seats comfortable?

I don't mind getting attention with a car if it's coming from a car person, but everyone else gets the minimum amount of chit chat.

Extremely good seats!

It was Mississauga.

Yes, good train ride. My quiche breakfast was good!

Great adventure and description of the car, sounds like the seller was a proper enthusiast, which is really nice. Congrats again!

Oh! I drove the car today, in the rain, to get some groceries.

Because of the cloudy gray skies, there was no light to make the metallic in the paint pop.

In this case, the car looked like a pale dijon mustard beige color.

Far more than any car I've owned, the color is influenced wildly by available light. And I've only owned it a couple of days!
