Everyone loves talking about the weather, right?   :D

Up and down temps in Winnipeg for the next week.  Saturday's high will be +4, then the temp cascades down to -18 by next Wednesday.

Winnipeg normals: Max-8°C.Min-18°C.

Worked our way out of a cold snap, temps up around zero for the weekend and back to normal next week. We've had about 40cm of snow over the past two weeks. Nice to have that on the ground this winter.

Wednesday morning, woke to a temp of -30 and a wind chill of -43. Seasonal temps return in a few days.

Winnipeg's Christmas Day forecast is looking warm. Normal high is -11.

Overcast. High +1C. Winds S at 10 to 15 km/h.

Snow cover maps from Jan 1st and Jan 6th. This week's storm left quite a trail from the plains to the east coast.

Tortoise

It's been a while since we've seen snow that far south... By all accounts the driving is a nightmare.

No kidding. It was +16C here on Sunday, and this morning it was -2C. Not exactly Cold by Canadian standards, but definitely the coldest weather I've felt in quite awhile...Suppose to be similar all week. So far it's been dry, but there is potential snow in the forecast Thursday night. It's big news here, and the southerners are getting concerned; I stopped at the grocery store for a couple things on the way home tonight and the shelves were near bare with people 'stocking up'.

Woke up to some legitimate snow this morning school and office closed. Looks like most of it will melt over the weekend, but still kinda shocking to see around here. Guess I'll have to go find my snow shovel in the shed and clear the walkway at some point today....

Oh wow!

It would be interesting to see how people handle it on roads.

Bubba

I bet the kids will love it.

Firm

Yeah, kids are hyped...I haven't gone out yet as I've been on work calls, but I'll go out at lunch and show them my snowball throwing skills  8)

I am sure the roads are a right mess...no snow tires (usually bald all-seasons), no experience driving in snow, and no salt/clearing equipment (city has 1 or 2 plows, that's it). So even though I have plenty of experience driving in snow, and an AWD SUV with brand new all-terrains, I am staying off the majors. Looks like a lot of people did the same though. Here's I40 into downtown Memphis maybe 2-miles back from the Mississippi

Hopefully temps warm up enough to at least clear the roads of ice and snow in the next few days.

I've had a look at Virtual Railfan's Youtube channel that cycles through cameras in Illinois, Kentucky, Arkansas, Tennessee, among others. No shortage of snow!

Firm

It's warming up enough now that the roads are melting, even my very quiet residential street is showing bare spots. Looks like we got about 6" total. Brushed off the cars, shovel the walk way and hit the kids with a few snowballs....The first two task I absolutely do not miss.
