Quote from: Gurgie on Feb 17, 2026, 09:04 AMBella & I are looking at Italy/Croatia this summer, probably 3 weeks starting late August. We're looking at flying into Venice from Montreal & then renting a car & heading to Ljubljana Slovenia for a night & then off towards Zagreb Croatia after. Then tour around Croatia for a while, my buddy has a place about 40mins from Zagreb, then my Aunt has a place on the coast close to Split, so we'll head there as well. Good chance my aunt will be there, as well as her daughter who lives in New Zealand, so it would be nice to see her. Hard to plan that far out, but kinda have to with these bigger trips I guess.

Trip is slowly coming together, we booked our flights a couple of weeks ago, figured we'd try & grab them before the prices went up due to the spike in fuel prices, but so far it seems to have held steady, guess it's far enough out that the airlines figure the price of oil will come down a bit by then. Booked a car the trip yesterday as well, we'll have it for 18 days in total and it came out to just under $1k CDN, but there will be some cross border fee's that we'll have to pay at the counter, around $200 CDN, so not too bad for almost 3 weeks. Next up is accommodations  ;D

Bridgecity

I'll be in Halifax the last week of October for a work conference, and Mrs BC and I have decided we should extend our stay and she'll join me.  Neither of us have been to the east coast before.  I would rather visit in September but the timing is what it is.   The conference runs from Monday to early afternoon on Wednesday.  I imagine the first three nights will just be finding some good eats and pubs around the city.  We plan on flying home on the Sunday.

Any input from the easterners here on what we should be doing or where we should be going?  Its not a whole lot of time from Thursday to Sunday but should be enough to get in some decent vacation time.  Someone from the office said if we're going to be in Halifax we need to make the drive the Charlottetown.  I'm open to ideas from the people that know.  Thanks for any input.

Nothing exciting really this year, going to Salmon Arm in August for a family reunion and then to exotic Brandon, Manitoba for the wife's uncles celebration of life in September. Wife turns the big 5-0 this year so we are attempting to put together for that, but she's so wishy washy its hard to nail down anything.

We're driving down to Pensacola Beach on Sunday and staying for the week, it's become our 'go to' vacation spot annually now....just the perfect mix of beautiful white sand beach, limited crowds, and great access to restaurants, shopping, etc. Not really a big 'vacation' guy, but I look forward to this....kids are the right age where they'll play in the water along the beach for hours.

Mrs.Firm's birthday is later in the month, and her dad is coming to spend a couple weeks with us  ::) but that means we'll have live-in babysitting for 2 weeks, so she's planning a weekend in Nashville for her and I. We get to Nashville a couple times a year for various things, but it's always nice to get away from the kids for a couple days and hang out on Broadway.

Just got back from this - great trip. Weather was perfect, beach was awesome as always, Escalade handled the ~1000 miles perfectly.
