Bridgecity

Myself and the family just got back from a week in the Dominican last Thursday.  Did the all inclusive, and actually didn't leave the resort at all.  It was a great break from the regular winter life.  Nothing but sun, relaxation, beach time, swimming, and great drink.  Food was pretty good also.  If you enjoy an all inclusive, I would highly recommend Dreams Onyx in Punta Cana.  Gorgeous palm tree lined beach and beautiful resort.  I thought our boys (17 and 19) may get bored along the way, but they had a blast.

Not sure what's next for 2026.  Ireland and Greece are getting thrown around, but don't have any firm plans, just throwing ideas around with Mrs. BC.  We NEED to do eastern Canada at some point, never been, so that's also high on the list.

Love me a good relaxing week at an all inclusive in the winter.  While of course trips centered around exploring, adventures, and trying new things are a lot of fun, I'll take a low key beach week any day over some busy week of exploring, but that's just me.

^ Yep, me too. Exploring, scheduling, getting around, etc, it all feels a little too much like work.

While I appreciate a weekend off as much as the next guy, I prefer the 'adventure vacation' format a lot more.  From canoe-packing to MTB trips, that's more my speed.

I have a hard time sitting still.

dkazzed

They have meds for that. ;D

What do you do for a living again?

Some of us had jobs that were so physically demanding (in the case of IQ physically and emotionally) that when vacation time rolled around we have absolutely nothing left in the tank. So an adventure vacation is out of the question.

We want full relaxation mode. Because that's all we can muster.

Yep, that's where I am at. Not that my job is physically demanding, but it's high stress, high pressure, constant deadlines and challenges, everyday is a different shitstorm. Plus, at least once or twice a quarter I do a "market visit" where we get into a random city/region to assess the market; visit stores, field teams, commercial accounts, scope competition, assess development and growth....That gets all of the desire for exploration out of my system. Add to that the kids, fleet of old cars, house/property stuff, and I am done. When it's time for vacation, I ain't doing shi-t.

I work at a desk/computer.  Not very physical at all.

Exactly.

You crave moving around after being chained to a desk.
