We bought this 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 9 Preferred AWD as our one and only family hauler! My partner's Kia Soul was written off after it was crashed into while parked in front of our home back in late September which made us ponder long and hard whether we really needed two vehicles. I largely ride my bike around town (6,900 km in 2025) or take transit so our Sienna sat around doing mostly nothing for almost two months. In mid-December with our insurance finally settled (that was painful), we started the buying process and picked this up just before the Christmas shut down. It's been an amazing vehicle so far.

(The Sienna was sold, I had no where to park it and we didn't need it)

Hope you got a wicked deal! I wish I'd have known - we'd have hooked you up with a wicked deal through my Hyundai store.

I honestly haven't spent any time with one of these yet; they look really cool.

Congrats on the new car.  These are full electric, right?

Gurgie

I didn't even know these existed  :o

Sounds like this suits your needs very well, congrats!!

I've been seeing a few around, I think they look great in that green color.

Congrats on the new wheels dkazzed!

Like Gurgie, I didn't know these existed.  I still watch a decent amount of youtube vids on car reviews, but do feel like I'm out of the loop on a lot of newer vehicles lately, mainly since autos.ca ended.

Thanks! We got $2k off MSRP after their "mandatory AB winter package" which include all weather mats for all three rows plus the cargo area, mud guards, and their keyfob protection. I thought the deal worked really well considering we wanted electric and there weren't a lot of options at the lower end of the 3 row market looking at Autotrader to this day.

Just released earlier this year, my unit was assembled in May. Autotrader does a limited number of articles but unfortunately I've mostly turned to TFL, Out of Spec, etc.

The green is beautiful and was our first choice, but only available in the Luxury and Calligraphy trims and the conversation we had was that the only thing we wanted from the Luxury trim was the auto dimming mirror, we just didn't see $9,000 value in one. Actually $11,500 but the dealer was throwing even more cash onto the Luxury trim. The lack of auto dimming mirror has bothered us a lot less than we thought, but when we look at the vehicles we've owned that had this:

2007 Ford Explorer Limited
2019 Kia Soul EX Tech
2014 Ford Fiesta SEL/Titanium Frankenstein (it was a Titanium with cloth seats and no navigation, just really strange)
2008 Honda Odyssey EX-L
2004 Toyota Sienna XLE

Why Hyundai? Kia has this standard in all trim level EV9s.

Also, you can only get a brown Ioniq 9 in Essential RWD and Preferred AWD+ (very different from my Preferred AWD) trims. In fact, you can only get the Essential RWD and Preferred AWD+ trims in brown. I think I've only ever seen one or two Essentials for sale across the entire country, and no Preferred AWD+ whatsoever (it's said to be a compliance trim level if the feds ever bring the consumer iZEV rebate back and they don't intend on actually selling it)

Congrats! Glad that you're enjoying it. Is this your first EV?
These are kinda striking to see on the road, I came up behind one a few weeks ago and was like "wtf is that!", especially with all the rear LEDs lit up, 5th Element vibes.

Nice! These are strangely not popular in Montreal, I think the only one I've seen is on the little ramp podium outside of a Hyundai dealer. Which is strange, because I see a ton of Kia EV9s on the road. I'm not sure why people here seem to be going for the Kia version...

There's a Kia EV9 in my condo garage and the thing is HUGE... It's owned by an older couple who bought it maybe 6 months ago to replace a 2nd generation Highlander. Definitely the right size for a family.
2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV Premier, 2024 Toyota bZ4X XLE Tech

Congrats on the new wheels.  Were you the one that was dreaming about that VW EV Van thingy?  Making the switch to go with an EV as your only vehicle is bold but if you are going into it with open eyes and figure it's the best option who am I to dispute that.
Past vehicles, 2016 VW Golf R, 2020 VW GLI, 2022 Honda Civic Si

Current vehicle, 2024 Acura Integra Type S

The EV9 was here first and got tons of coverage for being the first "affordable" 3-row EV out there. Limited allocation with the Ioniq9 maybe? I do see them around, but they blend in more than the Kia.

Congrats on the purchase!

The journalist / colleague I shared the "Annuel de l'automobile" booth with at the auto show, a guy that drives all the high-end stuff, bought an EV9. That's an endorsment of the platform if I ever saw one!
