I'd like to get a new device, probably going to run Kodi or whatever it's called now.
What's good?
A year or two ago I got an android box, it was junk that lost it's programs if powered down so returned it. Most seem like junk with very exaggerated specs.
I like the Nvidia Shield TV pro, but can it run Kodi?
I could get a mini-pc and run Linux with Kodi....I think.
Any suggestions?
I have a Shield Pro and run Kodi.
Works perfectly.
We use it to run all our media apps (YouTube, Netflix, Prime, etc)
Over the last year we've replaced all our TV streaming devices with the Google Onn. It's far superior to everything else we've tried (the amazon one, random android boxes, etc), runs smooth, starts right where you left off, very nice units.
Now, I just checked, and apparently the Google Onn is not available in Canada but search results suggest there are lots of people running them on VPNs in Canada. Wal Mart here in the US sells them for $19.99

Is there an adblock available for Youtube and general browsing? Good to know it'll run Kodi.
I've been putting it off forever waiting for them to build a newer model, but they never do. Now, too bad they are US based company, are there alternatives?

Google Onn is only available through American Walmart. Not liking either company much at the moment...

Its Android so anything that you can do on a phone or tablet can be done here. Though you may need to "side load" it since not every single app for phones or tablets is on the Shield Play Store.
