Yep..I like this re design.
I can't get past the look of these. I think they look terrible. But that's just me.
A family friend has one of these that they bought maybe 1.5 years ago, but it's the Executive package. She seems to like it well enough but says it doesn't have the same pickup and smoothness of her old 2015-ish V6 RDX. She said if the RDX had a hybrid available she definitely would've gone that route, but Acura seems to be asleep at the wheel on that front so far...

Under "looks terrible", I found "Ineos Grenadier".

Hey, let's put a hybrid drivetrain in a reborn Prelude !!!"
Throttle response varies a lot depending on what drive mode is selected - Eco has a long travel and less response, as expected, Normal is fairly peppy and has "long legs" on the highway, while Sport is frisky at lower speeds. The 300+ horses PHEV is the quicker model of this breed though.

I'd want the PHEV.

Terrible may be a bit strong :) Lexus nailed the styling with the RX, and missed with the NX IMO. Maybe its the raked hood.
I don't mind the way this unit looks at all, in fact, I think it looks pretty damn good especially in that blue, the buzzy 4 banger is really what kills it for me. Especially at the price.

Couple weeks ago I was in a Sportage PHEV and you could barely hear & feel the 1.6t when it was lit up. A Kia. Meanwhile, the ToyoLexus atmo four is grinding coffee beans out there.
^ Ya, true dat. However soon enough the Hyundai/Kia will be grinding its internals.
And yes, this snarkiness is coming from an owner of a V35 :)

Was going to say the same!
Toyota has never been known for their silky smooth 4 bangers.
But what they are known for is 4 bangers that last forever.
Kia/Hyundai? Not so much!
I had it in the garage for a bit to thaw out all the ice. Outside, the mirrors stayed folded, and everything was beeping like crazy. At first it braked while I was trying to back up...
Once warmed up, looking at that blue paint over black wheels inside the garage - this combo looks really nice in person. Lots of complex curves.
Before the ice storm...
Now the NX probably has the worse "driver assistance" systems on the market. I can't count how many false alarms I've had this week. Just this morning, I was parked at the curb in front of the house and I just pulled up a few meters to allow the Mrs on board, and it slammed the brakes and sent me into the horn. Snow on the ground for f*cks' sake.
It was just as bad on the PHEV I drove last year, and the other hybrid I reviewed in '24.

LOL 😆. First a Prius trying to kill you and now this? I'm starting to see a pattern! LOL 😆
You can turn the sensitivity up/down or turn any of these off easily.

That's why I turn on all the gizmos - they sometimes turn into tasty story bits ;D Yes, both automatic braking features can be turned off, but they are part of the option packages - pay more for something that doesn't work right and needs to be turned off, yet adds to repair costs and insurance.

I've had various versions on several Lexus/Toyota now and I've never encountered your issues. The low speed auto brake WILL brake the car if it thinks you're going to hit something (even a snow drift, garbage pail, etc), but that's typically with the sensitivity cranked. I used the latest versions of these on the Prius full time and now on the BZ.
Always on, never an issue. The only issue was in winter when completely covered with snow and the car would remind you to clean them off.
I DID have an issue early on with the emergency braking (like if a car pulled in front of you or stopped suddenly) but again, fixed with the sensitivity.
But otherwise the systems have worked flawlessly over hundreds of thousands of KMs.
Shrugs.

Having driven my moms RX450h, gotta say that none of the safety nannies every bothered me.

Same.
I have the exact same system in my BZ.
Sounds like he had distance and sensitivity jacked to the max.
Prius also had the same thing..and again...no worries there, either.
I'm sure if you cranked them to the max the car would turn into a hypochondriac worry wort, but, as it sits, its never beeped at me or hammered the binders without cause. It did save the neighbors cat when I was backing it out of their garage though lol

I used to terrify people when driving up to a garbage pail..and let the system so it's thing! LOL 😆
