2009 Audi A5
In the middle of an extremely frustrating effort to remove the glove box to get at the blower for replacement. Have had advice from "experts" saying there are only 5-6 screws and this is a 15 minute job.
Have so far removed 10 screws and glove box still won't come out after an hour. Another fine piece of German "engineering" it seems.
There seems to be a hidden screw which no video has shown and/or nobody seems to know about (or forgotten about).
There's 5 on the top edge, there's 1 in the back middle and one in extreme RH side (under a cover). And 4 on the bottom (which also hold the air bag on). And yet, it's still not coming out. Seems to be stuck on left side, but I see no further screws. Is there perhaps a screw behind the small, rectangular box? No video shows this though? But that box feels like it will break if I remove it and there seems to be no clips, buttons, snaps etc that hold it in. It definitely feels like it could break trying to remove.
I have uploaded a photo of the approximate location of screws I've removed (didn't include air bag screws, or one in extreme RH side).
Where is the mystery final screw? Anyone by chance done one of these?
Is that Valet switch holding you up? Sometimes those are clipped or screwed into their own bracket and need to be removed before you can pull that glovebox liner. Failing that, if you don't want to risk breaking it, got to a scrapyard that has an A5, tear it out, and then document all the mounting points......Or, find detailed photos of that glovebox on the internet, ebay auction or something, and maybe you can spot the other mounting point.
It took a bunch of effort to figure out. As usual, totally asinine "engineering".
Have a look at that image. Look close near the front edge and the wall..there's a clip there. A completely invisible, impossible to see clip! Why? It's a glove box! And in the glove box all the other screws are exposed! I even texted an Euro mechanic and he didn't know either! LOL 😆

I looked at Q7's... only way I'd touch one is with a serious CPO warranty :D
I haven't looked into their known issues. I imagine you either get one that is solid, or one that's a nightmare.
It's a shame though, I really like them and think they'd be great family hauler / ski mobile.
Reminds me of when I looked at a video to figure out how to replace the 12V battery in my old A3 e-tron - "nope" quickly came to mind.

Once exposed, the motor assembly merely pops out with a 1/4 turn rotation.
Tried to put in replacement part...no go. Wouldn't sit flush so I could turn it to get the tabs to grab. Tried for a bit...something not right with part.
Ordered another from another company. Arrived today and installed in 5 seconds.
Job is done...IQ has heat again.
